She is starting to show little hints of a smile while she's awake; up to now she has only smiled while asleep. Social smiles typically develop around this time, so we are eagerly anticipating them. She does seem to be staring at my face more often. One book suggests sticking your tongue out at her to see if it prompts her to do the same (baby's first dialog?)
My parents visited last week, and it was very nice to have them here although it seemed so short. I was spoiled terribly: it was so easy to hand Miriam over to her grandmother when she was fussy and I wasn't in the mood to calm her down. :) Jen's Dad is coming next week, so more spoiling for us, but after that we'll be on our own. The worrisome bit is at the end of October, when Jen goes out of town for a couple days for an interview. I haven't had to handle any of the overnight feedings and whatnot, and I'm not sure how I'll feel about being the sole parent for two whole days. I'll manage of course, but I think I will be very happy when she comes home, all the same. (If any of y'all would like to come down and visit for a few days, that would be the time! :)
Have to go finish writing a test now, and then (UGH) grade some homework.
