A/C

As I was going to bed late last night, I noticed that the house seemed much warmer than usual, even though the central A/C was on, and the thermostat confirmed it was 80° which is warmer than we keep it. I tried replacing the filter but to no effect. Well, of course it turns out that our central A/C was broken, and now the house is very warm. Unpleasant, but we were fortunate in several ways:
1. It's only in the 90s out, and not the 100s. (The summer here has been unusually not-godawful-hot; from what I've heard, not that different from summer in Pennsylvania, although maybe more consistent. It's kind of neat: because I've been waiting for those 105 degree temperatures, I haven't been so bothered by the 90-degree temperatures, thinking "This is not the bad part." Mind you, 96° outside is one thing, 96° in your own house is quite another.)
2. We own a window AC, while most people around here do not. It's old and not very powerful, but it does succeed in lowering the temperature a bit.
3. We were able to get someone to come look at it today (i.e. Sunday), and it should be fixed by tomorrow afternoon.
