Pennsylvania
Jun. 12th, 2007 04:56 pmThe opening credits to The Office (US) make me homesick. :( Specifically, the exterior shots in Scranton. It's hard to believe that Pennsylvania looks any different than any other state in the Northeast, but sometimes I see a picture and say, "Yup, that's eastern Pennsylvania." (And mind you, I've only been to Scranton itself once or twice in my life; it's about an hour's drive northwest).
The Lehigh Valley, where I grew up, is growing rapidly in population (as people who work in NYC move farther and farther away from it and commute from farther and farther away), and so when I go back all the new development pisses me off sometimes. I'm pretty sure that I couldn't stand living there and watching the ruraler bits of it disappear. Heck, as an academic, the odds wouldn't be good even if I wanted to move back. But I do miss it.
