Web hosting

For the first time since college I am bereft of a webpage; I've gone from wso (or was it...quentin first?) to towers to my computer at Northeastern. I've never had to do it before, but I'm thinking about looking for a commercial webhosting service. Can anyone make a recommendation? Something not too obnoxious on the advertising end of things? We have Verizon DSL but I don't think they give us webspace (though it's so hard to tell with their atrociously organized website).
